GRIMLEY BAND
Over its 135 year history the band has played at many venues both locally, nationally and internationally. More used to the contest stage or concert platform, the band spent four nights over the Easter weekend appearing at Whitby Pavillion Theatre in Whitby Amateur Dramatic Society's production of 'Brassed Off'.
The play directed by Katrina Stead required the band's female members to be dressed as men with the addition of some dubious looking wigs.
As well as performing the quite difficult gallop from the William Tell Overture (The Lone Ranger) and the Florentiner march, there was also the opportunity for all to display their acting skills.
The music featured in the play also included Rodrigo's Concerto De Aranjuez - affectionately referred to as 'orange juice' - which was performed by our very own 'Gloria' - Beth on Flugel Horn. To
become GRIMLEY BAND for four performances was
JUST BRILLIANT!!!!
Our thanks go to all at W.A.D.S. for your warm welcome. It has been a pleasure to be part of your fantastic production.
