WAR WEEKEND SMIDDY HILL

Post date: Nov 11, 2014 6:05:23 PM

War broke out in Pickering once again over the weekend of 10th-12th October. The clock was turned back to the 1940's & 100's of visitors packed the town wandering the streets dressed as military personnel or wearing 'civvies' like grandad & grandma used to wear.
In the words of the phrase ''if you can't beat 'em – join 'em'' the band set up on Smiddy Hill & entertained the 'troops' & locals with some popular music from both the 1st & 2nd World Wars. In spite of it being October the sun shone & we even played in shirt sleeves for a while it was so warm.
