The Last Post is a mass participation project that will see communities across the UK playing the Last Post on a variety of different instruments to remember lives of World War One. In association with this, Stape Silver Band have organised a free night of world war one entertainment on Thursday 13th November at St Peter and St Pauls church in Pickering starting at 7 p.m. The Concert programme will reflect the changing attitudes to the First World War during the period 1914 to 1918 through music, songs and readings: from patriotic fervour, to stoic endurance, to protest, and to the peace of the Armistice and the recognition of the immense sacrifice of life.
As well as music from the band, Beth Breckon and guest artist Rachel Anderson will sing songs from the wartime period. The whole evening is being introduced by local historian Trevor Boag, who is an expert on this period and will be giving readings and poems from the period. Also, the Beck Isle museum are providing a world war one display, depicting local families involvement in the war. Refreshments will be served at the end of the concert and there will also be a raffle. All proceeds will go to the British Legion Poppy appeal.

We Will Remember Them.
